CT Resident Robbed At Gunpoint During Meeting For Online Sale, Police Say

A Connecticut man was robbed at gunpoint during an alleged armed robbery in the parking lot of a McDonald's restaurant.

The incident took place in Middlesex County around 4 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 20 in Middletown.

When officers arrived on the scene, they confirmed two people were meeting to buy items that were listed for sale online, said the Middletown Police.

The suspect pointed what is believed to be a firearm at the victim and demanded the items. The victim complied and was uninjured during the confrontation, police said. 

The suspect is described as a heavyset, Hispanic male, wearing a grey hoodie and dark shorts. 

The suspect fled the scene in what appears to be light colored Nissan sedan bearing a Massachusetts registration plate, police said.

The incident is under investigation and there is no immediate threat to the public.

"We would like to remind anyone who is purchasing online items in person to do so in front of or inside of the Middletown Police Department," the department said.
